Business Therapy Coaching
You’re an owner/manager of a small business or a freelance professional.
You suspect you’re working too much. Maybe you’re neglecting your physical and mental health.
You know you should be working on the business not in it, but you’re too busy.
You’re lonely in your business. You’d love to be able to talk about the real truth of what’s going rather than the glossy version you tell the outside world.

Business Therapy coaching will give you the following benefits:
An independent sounding board where you can discuss your business issues.
I will help you evaluate your options and then prompt you to take action towards the best outcome. Our coaching relationship will probably generate ideas that you may not have thought of on your own.
Accountability.
If you say you’re going to do something (or not do something), I will hold you accountable to this.
A time management overhaul.
I have a fantastic prioritisation tool that will help you see the most important tasks that need your input and give you permission to park a lower priority project.
Work / Life balance.
Business Therapy coaching will remind you to take enough time to nurture your health, relationships and your personal aspirations.
How does it work?
Business Therapy coaching is a form of non-directional coaching. Unlike traditional business coaching, I don’t directly dispense advice.
I’ll ask you a series of open questions, based on your agenda, that helps you to think through an issue, evaluate various options and then make a decision. You’ll come away with some realistic action points (or an outcome not to do something).
It gives you space to talk honestly, vulnerably and confidentially about your business in a non-judgemental setting.
In many a coaching session, I have heard the client say something like: “You know Cali. Now I’m chatting this through with you, I think XXX.”
Then I will drill down with them how to make XXX happen.
I’m a qualified chartered accountant, I’ve run my own company as a freelance IT consultant and I have fifty-nine years of life experience. When I do have some useful thoughts and insights, with your permission, I will share them with you.
Each session can be conducted over Zoom or at my dining room table in Ampthill.
It can be lonely as a business owner
You can’t always talk about the gritty stuff to your staff or to your spouse.
But you can get it off your chest with your coach and figure out a realistic way forwards.
If you are looking for direction, focus and clarity in your business, Cali Bird should be your first port of call. After a few Coaching Sessions with Cali, I now feel more inspired, capable and encouraged to go beyond the challenges of growing and developing my interior design business.
In a nutshell
You’ll get:
- A confidential sounding board
- Help with prioritisation/time management
- Someone to nudge you in the right direction when you’re falling prey to old habits.
How much does it cost?
Some coaches charge thousands of pounds. It’s a sizeable investment and a nerve-wracking financial commitment.
However, I don’t want price to be an issue. I understand that you’re bogged down with NI costs, business rates and rising rents. Money is tight and every pound needs to be justified.
For this reason, I want to make it a no-brainer on price.
90 Minute One Off Session
via zoom or in person in Ampthill- Perfect for a time management overhaul.
4 x 60 minute sessions
via zoom or in person in Ampthill- The best rhythm is to have one session every two weeks. However, if cost is an issue, one session once a month also works well.
I love helping people to organise their time and priorities as well as teaching them how to say No.
Imagine finishing work in time to see the kids before bed-time or just having some time to relax.
What would it mean to you not to be overwhelmed?
Did you know that one hour a day of useless faffing adds up to over five weeks of Monday to Friday time?
What would you achieve with an extra five weeks in your calendar?
Or would you take a massive holiday?
Business therapy coaching is for you if:
- You’re lonely in your business.
- You suspect that your time management is a disaster.
- You want to make sure that you are taking care of other areas of your life such as your health and significant relationships.
Business therapy coaching is not for you if:
- You want someone to tell you exactly what to do to grow your business.
- You want business advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the benefit?
The main benefit from business therapy coaching is that you will have someone confidential with whom to talk.
Speaking with someone who is not buried in the detail of your work can provide you with a different perspective which may lead to an outcome you would not have thought of on your own.
Coaching provides a huge accountability benefit. If you commit to doing an action (or not doing something), the fact that you have to report back to me in your next session means there is a greater chance of you following through.
How are you qualified to help my business?
The beauty of non-directional coaching is that I don’t have to be an expert in your field of business. The open questioning style drills down into your resources and creates a safe space for exploration. As part of the process, I will challenge your assumptions and encourage you to delve deeper into your thoughts. This often leads to solutions that you would not have come up with on your own.
I am a qualified chartered accountant and I’ve run my own consultancy business for many years. Where appropriate and with your permission, I will share my thoughts and insights.
I spent a tonne of money with a coach once and their ideas were crazy. Is your service worth the money?
First of all, I don’t tell you what to do. There are many business coaches who give specific advice on sales strategy, marketing, social media etc. I’m not one of those coaches.
The main function of business therapy coaching is to give you space to talk honestly and reflect on your business. As you know, it can be very lonely running your own business so my service provides you with a confidential sounding board.
I’m very good at helping people to sort out their time management and prioritisation skills. This means that you are likely to work less and/or get better at carving out time for family and your own health and well-being.
Couldn’t I just chat with my spouse or business partner?
Yes, but sometimes you might have something on your mind or an issue in the business that you’re not ready to share with them.
When something is troubling you, it isn’t always easy to be completely honest with those close to you especially if it will adversely affect them. Sometimes you need time and space to think everything through first.
As the person in charge of your business, you can’t always speak openly and honestly with employees.
My business is doing well but my personal life is a mess. Can coaching help?
Yes. Coaching is not just about work and business. It looks at all areas of your life.
It will help you prioritise time for health matters, fitness and for your significant friendships and relationships. It can help you identify goals and aspirations outside of your business and how to achieve them.
However, please note, that coaching is not counselling or therapy. If you have issues with your mental health, you will need to see a suitable practitioner.
Couldn't I just have these conversations with chatGPT?
Yes, you could. But wouldn’t you rather talk to a human being rather than spending yet more screen time emoting with your thumbs?
