Life Coaching

You’re at a crossroads.

Perhaps you’re coming out the other side of a life-changing event.

You have a day job that pays the bills but there is more that you want to achieve.

Maybe you’re juggling multiple jobs or freelance contracts but the stuff that’s important to you isn’t happening.

You have a creative project that is dear to your heart but you could do with some hand-holding.

Gentle Creative coaching will give you the following benefits:

 Get clarity.

Gain clarity with your goals and have a realistic action plan to make concrete progress.

Say Yes to you.

Gives you permission to do something you’ve always wanted to do.

N

Accountability.

Someone to talk to and hold you accountable. This is really useful if you have a goal or project that your friends and family don’t understand.

Learn to say No.

I love helping people to organise their time and energy. In our busy stressed lives, coaching is as much about what you don’t do as what you do!

How does it work?

I practice non-directional coaching. This means I don’t tell you what to do. The process assumes that the answer is already within you. You already know what to do, you just need help to dig that out and some prompting to take the right action!

You’ll begin the process by filling out a document that asks you a few thought-provoking questions and looks across all areas of your life: work, wealth, creativity, health, relationships, spiritual and play/fun.

Just completing this document will give you clarity on what you want for the future and what’s important to you.

In the first session you’ll pick three of these areas. I’ll ask you open questions that will begin a brain-storming process. This will help you evaluate various options and then make a decision on a way ahead.

You’ll come away from the session with some realistic action points (or a decision not to do something).

Each session will last 60 minutes and will be conducted over Zoom. Before the next session you’ll do the tasks to which you committed – which means that you’re immediately making progress with your goals.

In the next session, we’ll pick up from where you’re at and continue the same process, to your chosen agenda.

You drive the agenda and the pace. I’m not going to force you to do something that doesn’t resonate with you.

Where appropriate I have some tools and techniques which help you identify what makes you tick, how to prioritise what’s important to you and how to change annoying habits.

In a nutshell…

  • You get stuff done quicker than if you were left to your own devices. I remember doing a three month review for one of my first clients. She exclaimed, “Only three months? It feels like I’ve made six months of progress.”
  • You’ll have someone to nudge you in the right direction when you’re falling prey to old habits.
  • In a world full of uncertainty, there is something joyous about knowing you’re doing the best you can for yourself, with what you have, right now.

When I met Cali I had a project in mind that had been lurking in my mind for many years. I had an idea of what I wanted but no idea of how to get there. Cali asked me lots of questions and guided me to start the initial plan. Over the following months she helped me find direction when I felt I lost it and provided me with a framework to get things done. It’s not that she told me what to do, she helped me work it out for myself.

How much does it cost?

Although I’m based in the UK, some of my clients and many of my newsletter followers are in the USA. I’ll therefore price coaching packages in US dollars or pounds and you can choose the most appropriate currency for you.

One-off 60 minute session: £99 or $119

Package of four x 60 minute sessions, taken via Zoom (recommended): £320 or $399. The best rhythm is to have one session every two weeks. However, if cost is an issue, one session once a month also works well.

Life coaching is for you if:

  • You’re ready to take action towards your goals.
  • You want to change areas of your life that you are dissatisfied with.
  • You feel that you are going into a new phase of life and you’re excited to make the most of it.

Life coaching isn’t for you if:

  • You just want to talk about stuff but not do it.
  • You have significant mental health issues in which case counselling or psychotherapy may be more suitable.
  • You want help from someone with expertise in your area of interest and to be told exactly what to do.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the benefit of coaching? Couldn't I just work through and do my stuff anyway?

Yes, you can work alone but you’ll find that you get stuff done quicker with a coach. It will keep you accountable so that good intentions become actions done. It will also give you space to reflect about what you really want and how this fits with your values.

Do you tell me what to do? If not, how does it work?

No. You set the agenda. At the core of non-directive coaching is the belief that the individual holds the key to their own progression. In other words, you know what needs to be done but you’re not yet doing it.

The right questions facilitate a deeper understanding of your challenges and sparks your innate problem-solving abilities. As part of the process, I will challenge your assumptions and encourage you to delve deeper into your thoughts. Together we can brainstorm potential ways forward and then you will decide on a realistic action plan.

How does it work if you’re not an expert in my area of interest?

The beauty of non-directional coaching is that I don’t have to be an expert in your field. This model assumes that the answers are within you. In other words, you know what needs to be done but you’re not doing it. The open questioning style drills down into your knowledge and intuition.

As part of the process, I will challenge your assumptions and encourage you to delve deeper into your own thoughts. This often leads to solutions or a way forwards that you may not have come up with on your own.

Are you a therapist? Can you fix my issues?

No. Coaching is not counselling or therapy. If you have issues with your mental health then you will need to see a suitable practitioner.

Could I talk to chatGPT instead?

Yes, you could. But wouldn’t you rather talk to a human being rather than spending yet more screen time emoting with your thumbs?
